In this collection midwives tell their own stories and provide a glimpse into the world of old and new knowledge. Together with acclaimed author Cate Kennedy, Amanda worked with the Royal College of Midwives Inc (in Bendigo) to collect the stories and edit this anthology to bring more visibility to the work of midwives.

Published by Pan Macmillan in 2005 received positive reviews. In the foreword by Professor Fiona Stanley, she said. "This is a powerful tribute to midwives and I"m sure you will enjoy reading it as much as I did."
